Novel Writing with the SWOT Analysis

Originally used in the corporate world and later on adopted by startups, SWOT Analyses can also be an invaluable tool when drafting or editing a work of fiction. The Writing Lodge’s co-founder Gregory Austin developed this hands-on method that for writers who wish to streamline the character/story-plotting process, for staunch “plotters,” and for everyone in between.

This method is ideal for writing books on deadline, when you might not have time to draft an entire outline or construct a massively in-depth story bible. However, if you do have the time and enjoy plotting, a SWOT can act as an aide in fleshing out the more challenging detail-oriented questions posed by an outline or bible.

In this course, you’ll learn how to categorize the multitudes of your characters into the four sections of a SWOT: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. From there, you’ll learn how to utilize the analysis to flesh out and add layers to your characters and how to put that down on paper.

Cost: $30.00 USD per person for a two-hour session.

Large group rates (20+) can be worked out prior purchase.
